The Bluebell Trail Run, now well established in it's third year, is managed and organised by Midlothian Young People's Advice Service (MYPAS).
MYPAS is a charity promoting the positive mental health and wellbeing of young people in East Lothian and Midlothian.
No one gets paid to organise this event. All of our race crew, including MYPAS staff, give up their own time to volunteer. The event is led by a small but dedicated planning committee.
The Bluebell Trail Run is the annual fundraiser for MYPAS, raising money which they really depend on. Every penny raised, after some race costs such portaloos and first aid, go directly to the charity.
We are supported every year by key partners, who offer us an incredible amount of help, support and volunteers.
With a collective effort we are able to offer runners one of the best trail run experiences in the Lothians! And all for a very worthwhile cause.
Thanks to our annual key partners who are,
- Dalkeith Country Park who host us
- Run Club Dalkeith for providing volunteers and support
- Black Diamond FM for being our event compere and heart & sole on the day
- St. Mary's Church in the Park who provide a space for our volunteers
- The Boy's Brigade for providing us with marquees and volunteers
The Bluebell Trail Run is a Scottish Athletics licensed event.
Behind the scenes
What does it take to put on an event like the Bluebell Trail Run?
About 80 volunteers equating to over a 1000 hours of volunteer time, endless cups of tea, loads of fun, loads of planning, finding wood, cutting wood, making homemade medals and trophies, and most importantly, getting the support of hundreds of runners who come along every year to take part. Then planning begins for the following year!

How does your money help us?
Problematic alcohol and drug use, the death of a family member, anxiety about ‘coming out’, depression and self-harm are just some of the reasons young people seek support from MYPAS.
Through counselling, one-to-one support and having a supportive presence in all local schools, we help them cope, change things for the better and overcome their problems. Your money helps us to do this.
We do need help to continue offering these valuable health & wellbeing services. Funding cuts are a harsh reality and MYPAS, like many other charities, have experienced the difficult impact of this.
By supporting the Bluebell Trail Run you’ll make a huge difference to the lives of local young people.
Thank You!
